Welcome to the Spotters Peninsula Snapper Challenge, Port Phillip Bay & Westernport’s most sustainable, innovative & exciting fishing competition.
Our unique format allows catch & release optioned angling in both Port Phillip Bay & Westernport over the 9 day event window. After entering the Spotters Peninsula Snapper Challenge your first step is to get out on the water with mates or family as often as you can to bag your big snapper.
Step 2 is to take a smartphone snap of your catch on a brag mat or similar & send it to Challenge HQ for judging, the longest fish in Open, Junior & Kayak divisions wins!
Catch a bigger fish later on in the event? No problems, simply send a picture of your upsize as there is no limit to the number of fish that you can enter. Just keep on fishing.
Entrants can fish any time over the nine day event window in the Open, Kayak & Junior divisions to take home the trophy & title of Spotters Peninsula Snapper Challenge Champion.
The nine day window allows you to fish safely around weather, work & social commitments or your favorite tides to give you the best chance to catch Big Red.

Thanks to our great friends at Spotters sunglasses, each of the top ten longest snapper captured during the Challenge will be the winners of a pair of glare vapourising Spotters sunglasses & a Spotters cap.
These glass lensed Spotters sunglasses are valued at $319.95 each, will protect your precious eyes from the harsh on water glare, help you pick out weed beds & reefs to maximise your catch whilst you look sharp enough to be a catwalk model.
Not lucky enough to catch that trophy winning fish? Don’t worry as we have a great lucky draw prize pool to be given away to Challenge entrants just for being involved in the fishing fun.
This year we have over $25,000 in trophies & prizes to be given away to lucky entrants, with one in five entrants will land a prize in the lucky draw section.
When the fishing closes, the Spotters Peninsula Snapper Challenge will host our presentation event for anglers, friends & family at the Frankston Bombers football & Netball Club at Baxter Park to announce our champion anglers. Leave room in the car as you might win one of our entrant lucky draw prizes which consist of quality fishing, boating or fishing trip goodies which will be drawn on the day.
