Spotters Peninsula Snapper Challenge Entrants pack 2022.

Welcome to the 2022 Peninsula Snapper Challenge, Port Phillip Bay and Westernport’s premier fishing event. The organisers want you to get out have fun and fish as much as you can from the opening on Saturday 29th October through to closing at 11.59pm on Sunday 13/11. Please note that we have extended the fishing period for entrants in reaction to the weather forecast for the early part of the Challenge. When the fishing is all done please come along to our presentation event at the Frankston Bombers Football & Netball Club on Sunday 20/11 from 12.30pm where our Champion Anglers, Spotters Top Ten, Compleat Angler Dandenong Bay prizes & random draw winners will be announced, please watch our Facebook for presentation updates. Remember that these random draw prizes are shared equally amongst entrants, whether you catch a big snapper, a pinky or nothing at all as it is all about being part of the Challenge with family or mates.

 

The Fishing;

Fishing in the Peninsula Snapper Challenge commences at 12.01am on Saturday 29th October and you can fish both Port Phillip Bay and Westernport. After you catch a snapper, please enter the fish using a photo of the fish taken on your mobile phone and sent to Challenge HQ via SMS.

The Snapper must be placed on a measuring device that is mounted on a flat, rigid surface.

The entire fish from nose to tail, daily entry code word and fish length must be clearly visible in the photograph. The daily code word will be sent each competition day to the mobile phone registered with your entry & will also appear on our Facebook daily. Please see the example below;

Tips to help your entry photographs:
  • Clean the lens on the phone before you take the photo.

  • Make sure that the entire fish from nose to the tip of the upper tail fin can be clearly seen on the ruler.

  • The daily code word can be seen on the fish.

  • Before you send the photo, have a close look at it and put yourself in the judge’s position. Can they judge your picture and see the exact length of your fish easily. If not take the photo again.

  • Only one photo per text message please.

  • Ineligible photos will not be considered & you will not be notified if your photo is excluded.

  • There will be a new code word sent to the registered competition mobile phone number each day.

  • Images that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for entry.

  • The text box of the photo is to include your name, fish length and which bay the fish was caught PPB or WP, e.g. John Smith 85cm PPB

  • The judging length is from the fish nose to the tip of the upper tail fin.

In the Open, Kayak and Junior Division trophies will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd longest snapper submitted. Our Open Champion will win a 5-day barramundi fishing trip with Wild Hinchinbrook Adventures plus $1000 travel voucher, the Kayak Champion will receive a FPV battery & charger with our winning Junior to receive a Wilson Blade n Tails whiting rod & reel package.

 

One nominated day will be known as Savwinch Super Snapper Day where the longest fish entered on that date will win a $1500 Savwinch voucher. Our Facebook will announce the date for Savwinch Super Saturday.

 

The longest fish caught in both Port Phillip Bay & Westernport will each win a $750 voucher from Compleat Angler Dandenong.

 

A Spotters pack consisting of a pair of Spotters sunglasses & merchandise will be awarded to the ten longest snapper submitted across all three divisions.

 

Entrants can upsize their entries throughout the Challenge by sending another photo as described with no limit to the number of entered fish.

 

Photo entries close at 11.59pm on Sunday 13th November.

Kayak entrants please note that if you have a boat fishing day your fish will obviously be ineligible for the Kayak division but feel free to enter the fish in the Open section using the Open submission number

The Peninsula Snapper Challenge presentation will be held at;

 

Frankston Bombers Football Netball Club

Baxter Park, Baxter please enter from Frankston-Flinders Rd.

 

From 1.00pm on Sunday 20th November

 

The Football Club Pavilion has toilets, seating, hot food, drinks and plenty of covered area to keep everyone comfortable and out of the weather. Bring along family and friends to enjoy the afternoon and see the prize and trophy presentation.
